About Us



Western Farm Service Pty Ltd was established as a partnership between Bill Buist and Bob Goulden who then had a combined experience of 21 years. This was gained working for John Deere Lanz Australia and John Deere Limited (located just 3km from our present site), and later Chamberlain - John Deere when the companies joined forces in 1970.



Bill, an Agricultural Engineer, and Bob both came from farm backgrounds and when the opportunity to start up a retail dealership for Melbourne was offered in 1974, Western Farm Service began. The company started trading from July 1st, 1974 at 582 Ballarat Road Sunshine, before opening new premises at 588 Ballarat Road in 1987. 
Western Farm Service is now one of the longest serving John Deere dealerships in Victoria. With over 37 years in the business, the company has progressed from selling mainly agricultural machinery to being a major supplier of residential and commercial mowers, slashers, compact tractors and utility vehicles.
